Battery Backups
Installing communication systems in areas where the mains power supply
is not always reliable, will reduce the availability of any communication
link.
Adding a battery backed power supply to communication links significatly
increases the efficeny and reliability of such equipment by offering
protection from mains power blackouts, brownouts, surges and
spikes.
Power supply systems for 12, 24 and 48 volts dc are available with loads
of 100, 290 and 500 watts. These systems can be supported for 4, 8 and 12
hours using an intelligent charging system, recharging the batteries in
approximately three times the discharge period. This is achieved whilst
the full load is on. The charger contains a patented microprocessor
controlled, three stage, constant current, constant voltage system with
the following features:
- HIGH ENERGY RETURN, FAST CHARGING
- CONSTANT CURRENT FIRST STAGE CHARGE
- PROPORTIONAL TIMIMNG OF CV STAGE
- CONSTANT VOLTAGE FLOAT STANDBY
- AUTOMATIC SAFETY OVER-RIDE TIMER
- START-UP DELAY PREVENTS ARCING
- SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION WITHOUT FUSES
- RUGGED & RELIABLE SCR PHASE CONTROL
- AC ZERO-CROSSING BATTERY VOLTAGE SENSING
- LED LADDER CURRENT AMP METER
- CIRCUIT BREAKER AND ELECTRONIC CURRENT LIMIT
- MAINS POWER IS OFF
- BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED
- CHARGER DOES NOT GIVE ANY OUTPUT
A range of LED's mounted on the front panel will indicate various stages of charge and full battrey conditions.
The power units may be supplied either in 'free standing' metal cases or rack mounted with batteries fitted to sliding trays for ease of installation and maintenance. Interconnecting cable with terminals for connecting the batteries are supplied with the system.
